Growing manufacturing company in Sycamore is looking for an energetic Manual Machinist individual who wants to take the next step in their career.

We are seeking a hands-on machinist with 3-5 years of experience in parts repair, set-up, repair, adjustment, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, simple electrical operations in maintenance of machine tools, equipment, facilities, and buildings.

This person must have extensive experience with reading and interpreting blueprints. Operates machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, press, band saws, cutting tools and grinding equipment to fabricate or repair parts for operations to achieve close tolerances.


  • Maintain all equipment in good working condition. Attend to breakdowns timely to return to normal operation of equipment, reducing downtime and waste.
  • Dismantle, inspect, and rebuild mechanical assemblies to insure conformance to specifications or production requirements
  • Operates machine shop equipment to achieve close tolerances on assignments whether for creating new or modifying mechanical parts and devices.
  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to check tolerances and to insure the finished product meets the specifications.
  • Schedule daily PM's and work requirements and keep accurate records.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, sketches, diagrams, building and machine drawings, process sheets, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Provide technical training and development of tool room and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and tools.
  • Is a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision while functioning as a productive team member.
  • Suggest and execute modifications and improvements to equipment and facilities to meet changing production needs.
  • Rebuild and make all repairable parts.
  • Coordinate the work order system by scheduling and determining materials required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work practices specially Lock-Out Tag-Out, and maintains a clean and organized work area, follows all company safety procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or his/her designee.



  • An Associate's Degree in Industrial Mechanics, Machine Tooling, or Machine Tool Certificate or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of previous manual machining experience
  • 3-5 years of previous maintenance experience
  • Perform welding tasks including TIG, MIG, stick, and brazing.
  • Perform repairs to hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to research information independently.
  • Ability to work with close tolerances.
  • Ability to solve root cause failure analysis, 5 Why and other suitable problem solving techniques to ensure effective repairs on equipment and recommend preventative action to eliminate future or repeat failures.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to lift 70 Lbs. is required from time to time
